1. SUMMARY

The NATO Liaison Office (NLO) in the Republic of Moldova represents NATO in the country and facilitates political dialogue and practical cooperation between NATO and the Republic of Moldova.
Besides its public diplomacy function, NLO facilitates NATO’s advice and assistance in support of ongoing reforms and joint projects, as requested by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova.
The Driver and Security Aide provides reliable and safe driving and delivery services for the NLO, NATO staff and visitors, ensuring the highest standards of reliability, integrity and safety, and also supports NLO security and safety requirements.

2. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

a. ESSENTIAL

The incumbent must:

  • be a citizen of the Republic of Moldova or have permanent residence in the country;
  • have a minimum of three years of directly relevant work experience; have a valid local driver’s license;
  • specialised driver training, such as in defensive driving or winter driving;
  • knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance;
  • have a good general education, at least to higher secondary level;
  • have flexibility to work outside office hours;
  • languages: English, level 4 (advanced); local languages, level 6 (Proficient);
  • have basic level computer skills;
  • have no criminal record and pass a security vetting.

b. DESIRABLE

The following would be considered an advantage:

  • experience as a professional driver;
  • certificate of basic life support and first aid training;
  • work experience related to physical security;
  • additional driving licence categories allowing to drive a minibus.

3. MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide transport services to NATO staff and official visitors including delegations from NATO HQ and other visitors;
  • Provide delivery services; load and unload vehicles, pick up office supplies and deliver and collect packages, publications, correspondence, government documents such as visas, and other materials; maintain vehicle records and logbooks on keys/access cards, visitors, trips, and other records;
  • Assist in the maintenance of vehicles, garages and related work areas, inside and out; perform regular vehicle maintenance such as regulating tire pressure and adding gasoline, oil, and water prior to departure; perform driver-level maintenance including oil changes, changing tires, completing minor repairs, reporting vehicle issues, and maintaining records of fuel consumption and other related charges;
  • Manage emergencies on the road; complete incident and accident reports when necessary;
  • Provide basic first aid to passengers in case of injuries;
  • Liaise with representatives of the national authorities, as required;
  • Screen visitors and baggage by different means (e.g. visual inspection, metal detector, X-ray scanner); identify dangerous objects and prevent those objects from being brought into the office premises;
  • Maintain security records and logbooks on the NLO vehicle;
  • Support or stand in for the NLO Security Assistant, as necessary;
  • Perform other duties as requireds.

4. INTERRELATIONSHIPS

  • The Driver works under the overall leadership of the Head of the NLO Moldova, working closely with the Security Assistant, Administrative Manager and Office Manager.

  • Applicants should possess the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova and/or are permanent residents (with a valid work permit).

6. CONTRACT AND REMUNERATION PACKAGE

  • For the selected candidate, NLO can offer an attractive package with competitive social benefits (health and accident insurance), a generous leave package, and the opportunity to work in an inspiring international environment. The successful candidate will be offered a 3-year full-time contract, renewable subject to satisfactory performance.
